On a sunny weekend, as usual, I look for ideas to hang out when I want to spend a relaxing time. Using Chope, of course, makes it easy for me to get new hangout and restaurant ideas in Jakarta. Ground Up Gourmet Restaurant has actually been operating for quite a long time, since 2015. It is located in the Tebet area where I am indeed classified as rarely exploring there.
From the outside to the inside, at first glance, it looks like a coffee shop in general that is identical to the interior concept made of wood color and brick in the entire room. The minimalist area is equipped with several picture frame decorations, then synthetic plants and miniature displays that beautify the restaurant. In fact, this Ground Up Gourmet Restaurant is a restaurant serving Asian & Western dishes and basically, they are not special into coffee drinks.
Some of the mainstay menus offered are quite interesting and familiar to the Jakarta community. Dishes with a twist served with presentations are quite different. One of them is Bone Marrow Spaghetti, a pasta dish with beef ribs that is placed upright on top of the pasta so that it attracts enough attention, then it is doused with cheese sauce from above to give it a fragrant aroma. The texture of a typical fusion pasta with thick cream sauce and savory beef marrow. The price is quite affordable, only Rp. 72,000.
Then there is the Big Crunchy Beef with Sambal Matah. The presentation is quite unique, rice is surrounded with beef wrapped in flour which is crisp and has a lot of sambal topping. Interesting concept, beef is rather dry after going through the frying process, for a crisp texture that is pleasant enough, the taste of chili is a champion in this dish.
Similarly, the Spaghetti dish Sambal Matah. Italian fusion dishes that are certainly popular for the Jakarta community. A simple dish, spaghetti with olive oil, fried chicken pieces and crispy, sambal matah that shake the tongue. Every bite is addictive, savory and spicy taste is the mainstay of this dish.
